Inherently Secure Building Automation with UBX

Building automation systems are becoming increasingly complex and interconnected, making them a prime target for cyberattacks. In recent years, there have been a number of high-profile attacks on building automation systems, including the Target attack in 2013 and the Boston Children’s Hospital attack in 2021.

These attacks highlight the importance of security in building automation systems. UBX is designed with security in mind, providing a number of features to protect your building’s data and systems.

The inherently secure UBX system protects your network and data through:

  • Air gap: UBX uses an air gap between the sensor and controller network and any onsite private corporate network. This means that there is no at all connection between the two networks, making it much more difficult for attackers to gain access to your building’s data.
  • End-to-end encryption: All communication between the UBX hub and its  LoRaWAN devices is encrypted with unique keys per device. This ensures that even if an attacker could breach the air gap, they will not be able to read the data being transmitted.
  • No TCP/IP devices: UBX does not use any TCP/IP devices, which are known to be vulnerable to attack. This helps to minimize the attack surface of the system.
  • Physically locked hub: The UBX hub is physically locked, preventing unauthorized access. This helps to protect the system from physical tampering.
  • Secure cloud architecture: The UBX cloud architecture is hosted in a secure data center and uses industry-leading security measures to protect your data.

UBX is one of the most secure building automation systems on the market. With its air gap, end-to-end encryption, no TCP/IP devices, physically locked hub, and secure cloud architecture, UBX provides the highest level of protection for your building’s data and systems.
